PREREQUISITE: STUDENTS MUST BE A CERTIFIED BEER SERVER (Level 1) TO TAKE THE CERTIFIED CICERONE EXAM. 

Description: 

The goal of this course is to identify beer styles and how they are defined, as well as the history and characteristics of various styles by region, as part of the Certified Cicerone® Exam. 

The Certified Cicerone® is the second level of certification from Cicerone® Certification Program. This certification demonstrates a high level of knowledge in many aspects of the beer industry to help consumers in restaurants, breweries, and bars have a more enjoyable experience. 

Objective – Result: This course covers beer history and styles portion of the Certified Cicerone® Exam. 

Topics covered include the following:

  • How styles are defined
  • History and characteristics of various styles by region
  • German & Czech history and styles
  • Belgian & French history and styles
  • United Kingdom history and styles
  • American history and styles

Students will be required to have a copy of Chris Cohen's Beer Scholar Study Guide for the Certified Cicerone Exam®. Enrolled students will be supplied with a discounted rate to purchase the guide.
