This hybrid course includes online lectures with onsite labs at the Brandon Campus Engineering Technology facility.

Instruction Meeting Days: Monday - Thursday (Friday's will be for Proctored Assessments)

Week 1 and 2 - Safety

Week 3 and 4 - Quality 

Week 5 and 6 - Manufacturing

Week 7 and 8 - Maintenance

Proctored Assessment Dates:  2nd Friday

Program Description:

The purpose of the Certified Production Technician (CPT) ® 4.0 certification program is to recognize through certification, individuals who demonstrate mastery of the foundational, core competencies of advanced manufacturing production at the entry-level to front-line supervisor through successful completion of the certification assessments.  The goal of the CPT 4.0 certification program is to raise the level of performance of production technicians to help employers ensure their workforce increases the company’s productivity and competitiveness. 

This program is ideal for individuals with limited to no prior knowledge of manufacturing to begin a career pathway in the high-skill, high-wage, in-demand manufacturing industry.

The CPT 4.0 program consists of four individual production technician certificate assessments:

  • Safety & Employability
  • Quality Practices & Measurement
  • Manufacturing Processes & Production
  • Maintenance Awareness

Eligibility Requirements:
Four CPT program certificates: In order to earn the CPT certification, candidates must successfully
complete each of the following four assessments in the program: Safety; Quality Practices &
Measurement; Manufacturing Processes & Production; and Maintenance Awareness.   MSSC strongly suggests that candidates possess at least a 10th grade reading (English) and 9th grade math level.

Important noteStudents who successfully attain the industry certification offered as a part of this course are eligible to articulate this certification for 15 credits towards the Engineering Technology Links to an external site.program at a Florida state college, based on the Florida Department of Education’s Gold Standard Career Pathways Agreement.
