Florida residents can apply for the Open-Door Scholarship for medical assisting, nurse assisting, massage therapy and phlebotomy technician. The Sunshine Health Works scholarship is available for the EKG Technician course. This course is also approved for the 9/11 GI Bill.
Question: Where are the schedules of courses?
Answer: Due to the high number of scholarship applications for our allied health programs, there are several approved students waiting for the next available seats. As classes and seats become available, these students are notified of the dates and times of the classes. This is why we encourage you to apply for a scholarship to get on the list for upcoming classes. Keep in mind that self-pay is always an option. If you want to do self-pay, visit the following link to inform us of your course interest; a staff member will respond within 2 business days. Please note that you cannot self-pay and then be reimbursed by a scholarship.
Phlebotomy classes are typically 2 days per week for ~10 weeks. Each class is 4 hours per class. Classes are typically offered mornings, afternoons and evenings. Classes are offered at Dale Mabry Campus.
Who should attend? Anyone over the age of 18 with high school diploma or GED.
Course Format:
This course includes online self-study, live lecture, and Phlebotomy skills training.
Course Technology Requirements:
Desktop computer, laptop computer, Chromebook or tablet with internet connection and Chrome browser recommended. Mobile phones may not be compatible with interactive course tools and modules.
Description:
This course is designed to give you the hands on experience and skills needed for NHA national certification in just weeks through a combination of didactic hours and hands-on clinical training. Students will perform, at minimum, 30 live venipunctures and 10 capillary punctures in both lab and clinical setting and learn how to process lab specimens.
